Falmouth is one of Cornwall's most popular places to visit because of its unique mix of attractions, water sports, beaches, history and place to eat. The National Maritime Museum Cornwall and Pendennis Castle are both high on visitors' lists of places to visit and the views from Pendennis on a fine day are truly magical. Falmouth is the sailing capital of Cornwall with its spectacular deep water natural harbour offering a haven for both cruisers and racers. Many events are held through the summer culminating in the famous Falmouth Regatta Week and associated shore side events. These events are easily reached on foot as Royal Cornwall Yacht Club is 5 minutes down the road, Falmouth High Street is a 10 minute walk away and Events Square is about 15 minutes by foot.

As a university town many events are arranged by the students including annual exhibitions of art and photographic work. There is a Sainsbury supermarket 2 minutes away by car and a large Asda 5 minutes away.

The beaches at Gyllingvase & Swanpool are coarse sand and are wonderfully sunny south facing spots. You can ride the ferry to beautiful St Mawes for the day or take a delightful trip around the estuary stopping off at either Trelissick Gardens or Smugglers Cottage for a cream tea! There are plenty of places to eat & drink in Falmouth and recently Rick Stein has opened his Fish & Chip Restaurant & Oyster Bar at Discovery Quay adding to the superb mix across the town.

Maud-ann from Oswestry stayed at Harbour Watch for 7 nights in September
A quiet location with lovely views of Falmouth Harbour yet only 5 minutes walk to bars, shops and the Prince of Wales Pier. We felt at home right away as the decor and furnishings were as we would have chosen ourselves with spacious rooms, a large bathroom and very comfortable sofas and beds. It was tricky getting our car in the garage after a long journey; it was so safe and snug there that we got ourselves Fal Mussel cards and left it for a week while we explored the town on foot, took buses to Gweek and Penryn, and ferries to Malpas, Truro, Trelissick (NT), St Mawes and Place. It was so enjoyable and relaxing taking a boat trip every day, seeing seals and an amazing variety of birds, walking the coast paths, and avoiding all the hassle and expense of parking. Falmouth is a great place to eat and browse the shops and galleries as well as having two cinemas and a national maritime museum. We even managed to catch a live theatre performance; a good all-year-round holiday destination. We will definitely be back soon.

Very well equipped on the whole but a couple of trays to carry food to the dining table would be good.
Reply from Sophie BeaumontThank you for your kind review Jacky. A tray is a good idea and I have now bought one for the house. Sophie

Customer testimonials

What a fantastic trip... we've just returned home from spending a few days at New Years in Falmouth staying at Harbour Watch. The accommodation is immaculate and furnished to a very high standard. The house was perfect for the 4 of us. The living room, front bedroom and attic space all look out onto the glorious harbour. It was a delightful way to start the day, looking out at the boats and rolling countryside. The house is also well equipped with great self-catering facilities, a lovely big bathroom and a cosy living room with a fire for the colder nights. Falmouth town centre is a very short walk away with lots of restaurants and things to do. St Mawes, Flushing and Mylor are a few of the beautiful walks nearby that we enjoyed.

Cannot recommend this place enough, will definitely be booking again.
