Mousehole Cottage is situated just one mile from the quaint Cornish village Mawnan Smith, and three miles from the bustling port of Falmouth. Here you will find a host of shops, bars and restaurants, the award winning National Maritime Museum and Trebah Gardens which is not to be missed.

Falmouth is one of Cornwall's most popular places to visit because of its unique mix of attractions, water sports, beaches, history and place to eat. The National Maritime Museum Cornwall and Pendennis Castle are both high on visitors lists of places to visit and the views from Pendennis on a fine day a truly magical. Falmouth is the sailing capital of Cornwall with its spectacular deep water natural harbour offering a haven for both cruisers and racers. Many events are held through the summer culminating in the famous Falmouth Regatta Week and associated shore side events.

The beaches at Gyllingvase & Swanpool are coarse sand and are wonderfully sunny south facing spots. You can ride the ferry to beautiful St Mawes for the day or take a delightful trip around the estuary stopping off at either Trelissick Gardens or Smugglers Cottage for a cream tea! There are plenty of places to eat & drink in Falmouth and recently Rick Stein has opened his Fish & Chip Restaurant & Oyster Bar at Discovery Quay adding to the superb mix across the town.

Neil from Barnsley stayed at Mousehole Cottage for 7 nights in August
Having spoken to the site manager, we could have paid less booking direct. We thought we had booked direct, but our search on the Net was re-directed to CornwallCottages, who increased the price AND applied terms (E.G. you cannot move furniture as this may invalidate the 100 withheld deposit). This was something the site manager knew nothing about, and told us to ignore. There were no cleaning products in the property, which is paramount. I accept dogs were allowed on the site, but no instructions about looking after ones dogs. We had 2 dogs wander into our accommodation, and one 'kindly' deposited their mess on our doorstep, which my wife inadvertently trod into the property. The external lighting was broken, who would aided my wife avoiding the mess as it was pitch black outside. Again, the provision of floor cleaning products would have been helpful, as we only had washing up liquid to clean up. Dog owners should be warned about this sort of thing happening and to take greater care of their pets. Otherwise, the accommodation was perfect, if only a little remote.

Victoria from Kettering stayed at Mousehole Cottage for 7 nights in July
Stayed here in July 2016. We had a pleasant stay but would say the whole property and facilities are a little worn around the edges and need tidying up. For instance the pool area had torn bunting that was not hanging up properly, the jacuzzi doors looked like they had cracks in and the parasols and loungers looked weathered and not very inviting. The 'cottage' was fine but I was surprised there were no pillow or mattress protectors on the bedding. Also found that it was very warm inside the cottage as could only open one window. This also brought in quite a lot of noise from other guests especially around pool area when trying to sleep. One thing that disappointed myself and my husband is that when booking we had no idea the stone cottages adjacent existed to rent instead. If we had known about these we would of stayed in these instead as they looked more inviting and luxury than the barn cottages. The barn cottages are not luxury or anything particularly special like the website suggests.
Reply from Country View Cottages Thank you for taking the time to review Mousehole. I'm sorry the cleanliness was only a 3 but I'm not sure why as you've not stated? With regards to torn bunting around the pool a guest was having a Birthday party and put the bunting up themselves. We've replaced half the parasols but still have half to do. I'll add the sun loungers to the list too so thanks for bringing it to our attention. We do have fans we can provide if the cottages get too hot it just needs to be mentioned to Darren the onsite Manger. With regards to the stone cottages onsite non of these sleep 2 people so I'm not sure they would have been suitable to you both, which is probably why it never came up when you were looking for a holiday. Hopefully non of these issues impacted on the enjoyment of your holiday too much. Many thanks

Ruth from Hampton Hill stayed at Mousehole Cottage for 7 nights in April
Mousehole was such a lovely place to stay on holiday ,the accommodation was very roomy with a comfortable l shaped sofa, lovely comfortable large bed and good storage space for clothes etc ,it had a well equipped kitchen ,dish washer micro wave etc .large shower in bathroom. Darren the sight manager was very good we had a light bulb out and he replaced our toilet seat with a brand new one ,as there was a loose screw on the old one ,this was done the same day I emailed him. lovely to have use of the swimming pool and jacuzzi ,and as we went there on the 8th April most schools went back ,so we had the complex near enough to our selfs. Not far away in mawnan smith village ,were the local shops, wonderful cafe called the Cornish maid ,we went there lots lovely coffee and breakfast Sarah the owner was lovely lady ,she even ordered us fresh bread for our journey home,a wonderful Italian restaurant called giseppis we went to twice ,also local spa shop and local pub .and not far up the road a hotel that had a spa.

Overall quite a nice place, location and area were decent but did require you to drive to and from as there are little in the way of footpaths, wifi could be better!
Reply from Country View CottagesThanks for taking the time to review one of our cottages. We are glad you had an enjoyable stay overall. Wifi isn't something we are looking into at the moment, due to the location it's going to cost a lot of money so we are waiting on super fast broadband to be rolled out but as it's Cornwall it could take some time. We look forward to welcoming you back again one day. Kind Regards Country View Cottages

Great cottage accompanying other sets of cottages with good swimming and sauna facilities. Just right for 2 people. We used it as a base to stretch into the South of Cornwall ... just right

Guest from Gloucester stayed at Mousehole Cottage for 7 nights in September
This cottage was ideal for us both in location and style. Made even better by perfect weather all week. Everything was clean and bed very comfortable. The whole site however gave the impression of work in progress and the drive in particular was rather rough and full of potholes. It has so much to offer it will be lovely when completed. The only other thing we would suggest is that you provide a bit better quality cutlery and a few more plates etc. In case of visits from friends and family.

Pool was very cold and not heated as detailed. Clean but some areas had appeared to have been repeatedly missed. Fantastic location very quiet and very comfortable.

Sarah from Birmingham stayed at Mousehole Cottage for 3 nights in May
We enjoyed a lovely stay. The weather was reasonably good and we made maximum use of the pool and hot tub. Be warned that the sauna takes some time to heat up and we mostly failed to get it up to anything like the desired temperature! The sound insulation between the buildings must be good, as the parents of a 2 year old in the house next to us apologised if she had disturbed us - and we had not heard her at all!

Very clean and very comfortable. This cottage is in a good central location if you want to go out and about. It is also nice to be left alone if you wish so. Shops are also not too far away for any food needs so all in all a good hideaway.
