Awarded Silver in the 2016/17 Cornwall Tourism Awards

Set on a small courtyard of original buildings in the grounds of the beautiful house at Cosawes Barton, Tremayne Barn was newly converted for the 2013 season. The property is fitted out to the highest of standards in a comfortable and homely style by the very caring Owners.

A wonderful location, perfect to either explore Cornwall or as a base to the Falmouth area, Cosawes Barton is a magical spot. Dogs are very welcome and the Owners have 17 acres of woodlands and walks which you are welcome to stroll around at your leisure.

Tremayne Barn is set out in reverse style with the living room and kitchen / dining room at first floor level and the bedrooms on the ground floor. However as the building is a traditional 'bank barn' and built into the hillside, you can access the property from either level. There is a private garden area across the drive at upper ground floor level for the exclusive use of the barn.

Accommodation
Upper Ground Floor: Living room and kitchen / dining room with fully fitted hand built kitchen. There is a cosy wood burning stove in the living room.
Lower Ground Floor: Master bedroom with 5' double bed, TV and en-suite shower room & WC. Second double bedroom with 4'6" double bed followed by a twin room. There is a family bathroom with bath, separate shower & WC.
Exterior: There is a separate private garden for the exclusive use of guests at Tremayne Barn. External furniture is provided and BBQ facilities are available. A separate storage room is available for bicycles, surfboards, boots & buggies. There is also a games room available in the courtyard and a climbing frame in a communal field.

Facilities & Services
Heating is via central heating and the wood burning stove. The kitchen has a range of modern equipment. There is an electric oven and hob, a microwave, toaster, kettle, fridge / freezer, dishwasher and washer / dryer. The living room area has a flatscreen digital TV & DVD player, CD player & iPod dock. There is WiFi available at the property. There is an iron & ironing board.

Miscellaneous
Electricity, heating, bed linen & towels are all included but you will need to provide your own beach towels. Up to 2 well behaved dogs are permitted at a small additional cost of £35 per dog / per week. Regrettably no smoking is allowed. Parking is available in a designated area for 2 vehicles. There is a cot & high chair available upon request.

General Booking Information
Arrival / Departure is normally a Friday.
Short breaks are available during quieter periods.
£200 pre-authorised to your credit or debit card as a security deposit is required.
Discounts available for couples staying outside the peak season, using one room only.

Ponsanooth is a traditional Cornish village with a very particular heritage. It is home to the Kennel Vale Nature Reserve – a fabulous unspolit place to explore, walk and take in the wildlife and scenery of this lovely place. It also provides a great base for exploring the county more generally, being equidistant between Truro and Falmouth as well as being only a short drive to the North coast. Cosawes Barton is approximately 15 minutes’ drive from Falmouth, 20 minutes from Truro and 30 minutes from the North Coast.

The Cathedral City of Truro is in the heart of Cornwall and offers a wealth of facilities for the visitor. Dominated by the stunning cathedral, it is one of the south west's most attractive cities. Lemon Quay plays host to many events throughout the year including the Cornwall Food & Drink Festival in the Autumn and the famous Truro Fatstock Show just before Christmas. Regular farmers markets occur every Wednesday & Saturday and there are also arts & craft markets on Saturdays. There is a wonderful range of shopping for the visitor including a wide range of more specialist stores. It really is worth a wander through the back streets and alleys to find some fabulous little independent shops and boutiques.

Falmouth is one of Cornwall's most popular places to visit because of its unique mix of attractions, water sports, beaches, history and places to eat. The National Maritime Museum Cornwall and Pendennis Castle are both high on visitors’ lists of places to visit and the views from Pendennis on a fine day a truly magical. Falmouth is the sailing capital of Cornwall with its spectacular deep water natural harbour offering a haven for both cruisers and racers. Many events are held through the summer culminating in the famous Falmouth Regatta Week and associated shore side events.

For those wanting to take in the fresh air of Cornwall and blow away all stress, the opportunities for enjoying your time in this location are almost endless. From the sailing courses at Mylor Harbour or Stithians reservoir which are available throughout the summer (ideal for older children looking for an active holiday), kayaking days, fishing at Argal Reservoir, glorious cliff walks on the coastal path or cycling the old mining trails – simply take your pick.

The choice of local sandy beaches is also stunning – from Gyllingvase & Swanpool in Falmouth which are wonderfully sunny south facing spots, to the quieter and more secluded beaches of the Roseland (a particular favourite of the children of the current owners) which are only a ride on the King Harry Ferry away. You can take a longer boat trip to beautiful St Mawes for the day or sail around the estuary stopping off at either Trelissick Gardens or Smugglers Cottage for a cream tea!

Pam from Ashford stayed at Tremayne Barn for 7 nights in June
We were 5 guests, my husband and I (aged 63) my Mum (aged 88) and my son and daughter in thier early 30's. The accomodation is first class, clean, modern facilities with one ensuite double bedroom (large walk in shower only), one other double bedroom and two single beds in the third room. There are hairdryers in the bedrooms and a shower and a bath on the ground floor. The barn is decorated to a very high standard with adequate storage space and the beds are comfortable. The living area is upstairs and the bathrooms are downstairs so not good if you have painful knees like me and Mum! The kitchen diner is very spacious and well equiped with dishwasher, washer dryer and fridge freezer. The lounge is also spacious but with quite modern, but the lounge furniture was not really comfortable to lounge on. There is a reasonable size TV with freeview and good internet if a little slow at times. There are beautiful open fields on the estate and just along the road is an old gunpowder mill, now derelect which my daughter walked the dog's around most days, she said it was magical, like a fairy forest with waterfalls and wild woods. I didn't get to see this because I have arthritis in both knees and could not cope with the uneven pathways, but she took some lovely photos to show us all. Dogs need to be on the lead in some of the fields c/o horses and chickens, but can run free in the mill area. The location is quite central so all the surrounding beaches and towns are about 15-45 minutes away in the car. We managed to park in the seafront car park at Fiscal beach and had a fabulous couple od sunny days there. Rick Stein lets the dogs in the restaurant which was a bonus for us on our first visit. Fiscal beach is dog friendly all year and there are a number of other beaches where you can run the dogs off lead to. There are other cottages ajoining the barn and limited parking. There is a table outside in the courtyard but the cottage garden is across the driveway and our dogs managed to escape into the fields from there so do not let your dog's off lead int he garden. We had a great time together and ate out most days, but there is ample room to entertain and cook for a family too. It was very hot weather when we stayed and my husband said he would have liked some fans in the rooms, but that was his only complaint.
Reply from Louise @ Cosawes BartonHi Pam Thanks so much for your lovely comments! We would love to see you again.. The Mill or the Linhay may be a better option for your knees - the Mill is completely on one level with a luxury wet room and the Linhay has a few steps only. Also, they have direct access to their gardens. Warm regards Louise

Tremayne Barn is beautiful and set in a wonderful location. Ponsanooth is a good base from which to explore other areas of Cornwall. The barn itself has been beautifully renovated to a very high standard. The rooms are tastefully decorated, clean and very well maintained. The owner, Louise, is very friendly and on hand to provide advice and assistance. The 3 cottages (Carvasso Mill and The Lindhay are also on the same site) are set in several acres of beautiful grounds which is very useful to explore if you have young children. The chickens (which our 2 year old granddaughter adopted) provided hours of amusement as well as freshly laid eggs. This is the second time we have stayed at the cottages and there is no reason as to why we will not be going back again in the near future. Thank you to Louise and Andy (and the cleaners) for a wonderful holiday.

Leigh from Retford stayed at Tremayne Barn for 7 nights in November
We had a LOVELY week at Tremayne Barn. Louise, the owner, emailed us to say hello and wish us a safe journey before we left, and her friendly and caring nature was clear. On arrival there was a fantastic array of welcoming goodies and we walked around and said 'Wow!' a lot! We found the barn was warm, extremely comfortable, quiet, spotlessly clean and superbly appointed. A bowl of freshly laid eggs was left at the door half way through the week, and the woodburner in the sitting room is a lovely focal point to the room and worked a treat. Being in Cornwall means that everywhere that you want to be is within easy driving distance, and we found it to be a great base to travel from. Thank You for a wonderful week, we would love to be back again soon.

Guest from Woodford Green stayed at Tremayne Barn for 7 nights in July
The Tremayne Barn is a very attractive property, sympathetically restored in a lovely area of Cornwall that I would happily live in permanently! The owner told me that they fell in love with the barn when it was badly in need of renovation and it is that love, care and attention to detail that makes it such a truly relaxing home from home. The location and beautiful grounds make it possible to be on complete retreat here and to give the dog a good walk without leaving them or to let the children loose in the extensive gardens for hours on end. Yet, there are attractions and livelier places to go to a short drive away if you want to. The owners are the most relaxed, warm and welcoming of any on-site owners we have experienced whilst being completely unobtrusive and respectful of our personal space. They have thought about all age groups and the provision of wi-fi, smart TV/netflix, children's play area and games room make it a great place for families to go to together to enjoy the beauty and activity of the Cornish coast when they have teenagers who can't completely cut off from what is happening at home! I would advise families with babies or young children who have early bed-times to choose one of the single-storey renovations at Cosawes Barton rather than the barn, as we tip-toed around the upper floor area where the kitchen/lounge is in the evenings, but still woke them up as the floor is very resonant and the slightest movement reverberated loudly below. However, this is really a very small criticism and in the end we gave up and let the babies stay upstairs until they fell asleep on the sofa which is sort of what holidays are all about anyway, I suppose. All in all, the barn gave us a lovely family break. It is a happy place with a good energy that we absorbed and brought back home.

Guest from Paignton stayed at Tremayne Barn for 7 nights in April
From the moment we arrived we were made by Louise and family to feel very welcome. The children and dog loved the woods, ponies and chickens. Excellent location, lovely local gifts, nothing was too much trouble. Children made lovely friends with the other guests and they spent endless hours in the games room and outdoor play area. We felt totally relaxed and away from work. Highlights were Porthcurnick Beach and the Hidden Hut. Definitely worth a visit. Hubby had a paragliding lesson at Illogan Downs. Everything was so accessible. Cannot praise this place enough. Hope to return.

Tremayne Barn is a great choice for touring Cornwall, with a good geographical position, making the whole of the County easily accessible. We were two and a dog but it is a spacious and well equipped 'upside down' house (living accommodation at first floor and three bedrooms on the ground floor) for up to six humans. The gardens are really nice and proved a hit with our young dog who could run freely in the coppiced woodland and explore the grounds safely. Several good pubs in the area and close proximity to both Truro and Falmouth and their supermarkets meant that food and general supplies were easily obtained.

A wonderful property with plenty of amenities. Excellent location for visiting various places. Good bus service nearby running to Falmouth. My family and I spent the week at Tremayne Barn mainly to see the Tall Ships but also enjoyed visiting Perranporth and St Ives. We all enjoyed the holiday very much and Tremayne Barn was the ideal place for the 6 of us to stay.

We have had an excellent week there. Location is within short drive distance of ANY thing you might think of...shops, beach, restaurants, lovely country walks, etc. The owner's ability to please you, answer any question and attention to detail is remarkable!! The place is quiet, relaxing and decorated to a very high standards. Beds a bit too soft for my like. But obviously, that is a very personal opinion. I would highly recommend the place. So much so, that we have already book our next stay for 2015.

Our accommodation was perfect for our needs. The Barn has been finished to a very high standard, the master bedroom and en suite in particular had the feel of a 5 star boutique hotel. At the same time the furnishings were very family friendly, there was plenty of room for our family of 6 to move around and the 'extras', such as the garden (private and communal), playroom and storeroom with lots of bits and pieces to borrow, meant that hanging out at the barn on an evening or lazy morning, was fun for all. Louise, our host, could not have been more helpful, with beach hints, bat tours and even a first aid box for us to raid.
